A one-day course for IT services and recruitment agency staff wanting to understand what goes on in a dealing room.

Aims and Objectives of the course

Who’s That Sitting Over There? is an unique one-day course designed to equip staff working for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery service providers with the skills and confidence to communicate more effectively with the City. It will provide an in-depth understanding of the jargon, priorities, risks, people and recovery timescales that exist in Dealing Rooms.

Who should attend?

The course is designed for everyone working for a service provider who needs to understand the City whether they work in sales, product development, marketing or technical support.

Course content

Who’s That Sitting Over There? will provide theory, open discussion, practical examples and case studies. Delegates will also be supplied with a detailed set of notes which will be a useful reference manual when dealing with the City. The course will cover the following:

  • The five product categories (Equities, Bonds, Money Markets, FX & Derivatives)
  • The three types of Dealing Room (Primary, Secondary and Investment)
  • The different people (Front Office, Middle Office & Back Office)
  • The Regulators (FSA, The Stock Exchange, LIFFE, LCH, Eurex, etc.)
  • The recovery timescales

Who’s That Sitting Over There? is available only as an in-house course for 8 to 12 delegates. This number ensures sufficient time to answer individual’s questions and enough people to provide interaction when looking at practical situations.
